1899

The first adaptation of a work of William Shakespeare, English poet, playwright and actor, who lived in the 16th century, was shot. The film partly featured the death scene from ‘King John’.

 

The twentieth century, 1900s

1901

The first film to use flashbacks to create a non-linear narrative was shot. Titled 'Histoire d'un crime’, it was directed by Ferdinand Zecca.
